Day 2 - Thu 19 Sep: Dubai to Abu Dhabi

Temp: 25-42.5 degC

The winds causing all that terrible turbulence must have been blowing us to Dubai as we landed 25 minutes early. And, we got to park at the terminal instead of on an apron somewhere and catch the bus to the terminal.

i knew I had plenty of time to get through all the formalities  before having to board the bus for Abu Dhabi; (Emirates don't fly into Abu Dhabi, rather put you on a coach). So, I meandered through the terminal, lined up for immigration, collected my bag, and breezed through customs. Although a few flights had landed about the same time, there didn't seem to be too many in the terminal at his early hour which was a good thing. I then sought out the telecommunications shop to buy a local sim which the nice man inserted and set up for me.

I was booked on the 10am bus from Dubai to Abu Dhabi however, I thought I'd try getting on the 7:15am one only because I needed to have a nap and didn't want to do that in the terminal - may wake up to find my bags missing?! As luck would have it, the bus wasn't even half full, so there was no problem. A little over two hours later, I was in Abu Dhabi. Saw some amazing buildings leaving Dubai.

I was also lucky enough to get an ealrly check-in at the hotel. After a coffee and croissant for mornos whilst unpacking my bags, it was time to hit the shower and then have a snooze.

Trying to stay awake for as long as possible so updating the blog and trying to get organised for the conference. Temperature was still above 42 degC at 4pm, so our exploring may have to be done before lunch. Sylvain arrives this evening, with Steve, Jane and I presume Ann, to arrive tomorrow morning.
